about

Hi, I'm Kristin! I'm a 20-something female, working and living in Charlotte, NC. I am married to a man who I am blessed to call my best friend. He is currently in the Air Force, and just got back from a 7-month deployment. We have experienced a lot of time spent apart, as many military couples do, but it has only brought us closer & helped to build and develop our relationship. We have 2 dogs, Rider (collie/corgi) & Harley (chihuahua) who are our only "kids" so far.

3 words used to describe me...determined, thoughtful, & silly :)

Where are you from? I grew up in southern Illinois, about 2 hours southeast of St. Louis, MO. Southern IL does not mean a southern suburb of Chicago people (haha, I get that a lot). From a small town with about 12,000 people in it, I was surrounded by family and met some of the most amazing people that I am lucky enough to call "friends" today. Since growing up there, I have lived in central IL; Monterey, CA; Omaha, NE; and am now in Charlotte, NC.

What made you decide to start a blog? Well, I originally started the blog when I was living in Monterey, CA - as a way to keep my family & friends updated on our lives out west. As you can see, over the past 3 years, it really has developed into anything with a focus, but I'm hoping to change that...or at least gain some more followers! I struggle sometimes with being overly personal in my posts, but I have found that, the more personal a blogger is, the more readers relate and understand how they feel. Readers might not always agree with the blogger, but honesty & truth goes a long way.

Did you go to college? I did, I majored in Psychology & minored in Management at a private University, right outside of St. Louis. After graduating in 4 years, I kept going...attending graduate school back in southern Illinois. I got my Masters in Applied Experimental Psychology (basically a mixture of statistics and Industrial/Organizational psychology)...and all I have to say is, it was tough!

How and when did you meet your husband? I met my husband the week before I started graduate school. Everyone in my graduate program had been assigned to an assistantship, and I was assigned to be a Teaching Assistant for an Introduction to Psychology course. A few undergraduate student, majoring in Psychology, had also been chosen for this position, and one of them was my husband. He was finishing up his final year of college. We each had our own sections to teach, but all of the teaching assistants got together once a week to review lessons and share experiences...we started talking, started hanging out, and eventually ended updating. That was the Fall of 2006 and we were married in the Spring of 2009.

If you were stranded on a desert island for a year, what one book would you bring (it can't be the Bible), what one piece of music would you bring, and what one luxury item would you bring? (<---I just had this question asked of me at a work-related team building meeting a few weeks ago) (1) The Shack - I just finished reading this and although I'm not attempting to fully understand every bit of it, I enjoyed how God, religion & life in general are spoken about in this book. (2) Any album of Joshua Radin's - I NEVER get sick of his music/songs...I can listen to his songs on repeat for hours in a day (and I do), and his voice just keeps me at peace. (3) Chapstick, in particular, Carmex - anyone who personally knows me, knows that I love (maybe, addicted to) Carmex...I apply it numerous times throughout the day. I hate getting chapped lips, and Carmex is the only thing that does the trick! :)

Cameras I use: I wish I had a big, fancy camera, but boy those puppies are expensive! Hopefully someday, I will own such a camera that has all of the buttons and does all of the fancy things. But for now, I typically use my iPhone and my Canon Power Shot SD1200 IS digital camera (that the hubby so graciously bought me 2 Christmas's ago...oh and it's teal, one of my favorite colors). I also edit some pics using Instagram, PicFrame, and Pic Collage (all iPhone apps).

*I tried to give you a brief snapshot of who I am. But if you want to know anything else, just ask...I may add it up here as a question!
